You are able to join with either Bedrock or Java edition, but you must first join the Discord server and declare your username in the #minecraft channel.
A creative server and a survival server are both available to play on.
For console Bedrock players, it is still possible to join but you will need to use a workaround. One workaround is to try the Bedrock Together app
